Dispatch services switch coming in May

By on March 27, 2010

ELBURN—The Elburn Police Department will switch its emergency dispatch services in mid to late May.

Currently, police dispatch services are provided by the Kane County Sheriff’s Department Emergency Communications Center (Kane Comm). The switch will move these services to TriCom Central Dispatch (Tri Com) in St. Charles.

The change will improve the coordination between the police and fire departments when they are responding to emergency situations, village officials said. The switch will not affect residents and businesses in Elburn, except that they should notify their alarm companies when the change takes place, because the alarm providers will need to contact Tri Com instead of Kane Comm when an alarm is activated. In the near future, the village will provide the telephone number that the alarm companies should call. For updates on the switch, visit the village website, www.elburn.il.us.
