MAPLE PARK—U.S. Cellular may possibly locate a mobile phone signal tower on park property near the Civic Center, just east of the McAdam Shed.

Village officials said they would rather have the pole on other village property, such as at the wastewater treatment plant; however, they said that the cellular phone company has a right, under state law, to place it where it would serve the company’s customers best.

U.S. Cellular is looking at other locations on private property in the village as well, and have not decided yet to lease the site near the Civic Center for the 190-foot pole. The company proposed a lease of between one and 30 ears, starting at $800 per month for the village and going up to a maximum of $1,609 per month.
