Today’s Beacon News had an article about this event and described it as a fundraiser for the Lion’s Club. I will not be attending this event because it does not provide the opportunity for everyone to “Meet the Candidates”. I do not believe the residents of Elburn should have to pay to meet me. I will therefore be out walking door-to-door and meeting as many of you as I can beginning this Sunday March 1st. If you want to invite a few neighbors over for coffee, let me know and I will be glad to stop by. You cam also visit my website and read my blog at or call me at 630-927-1207.

It saddens me to hear that all candidates for Elburn’s village offices may not be present for Sunday’s (March 1) dinner at Lions Park.

Today’s economic climate and level of uncertainty has us all on edge. With family budgets shrinking, 401k’s evaporating and job losses mounting, now, more than ever, we need a strong community to support each other, our businesses and our organizations. The Lions Club is certainly no exception to needing our support. As a Life Member of the Lions Club, I WILL BE THERE on Sunday to support my community, of which the Elburn Lions Club is such an integral part.

For those who can attend, you will be welcomed. For those who are unable to attend, you will be missed and I invite everyone to send me a note at, visit my website at or just give me a call at 630-365-9139.

Better yet, let’s have coffee together, I can be found most mornings, in town, at Elburn’s Kountry Kettle.

Admittance to the “Meet the Candidates” is FREE. If you would like to enjoy a wonderful pasta lunch, it will cost you $6. The dinner will be prepared and served by Elburn Lions Club volunteers. So, will we see you at the “fundraiser”?

Unfortunately, the Aurora Beacon News article featuring the “Meet the Candidates” story focused on the current challenges of fund raising that most charitable organizations are facing in today’s economy rather than the actual news that we were trying to convey. The “Meet the Candidates” afternoon at Elburn Lions Park is free to anyone who would like to attend. It is our desire to provide a service to our community – an opportunity for all of the candidates to be present in one location for the people of Elburn to hear their positions and to ask any questions that they might have. There will be a spaghetti lunch available for purchase but it is not required. A simple phone call could have confirmed this. Hopefully all of the candidates will attend to make this a truly informative afternoon for the people of Elburn.
