Christ Community
hosts former Korn
guitarist for WOW

ST. CHARLES—Brian “Head” Welch, former lead guitarist/co-founder of the multi-platinum metal band Korn, will visit Christ Community Church in St. Charles the weekend of Oct. 9-10 to tell his story of dramatic life change.

With Korn, Welch had exceeded his dreams and had all the success, money, fame and adulation he craved. But when he looked inside himself, he saw a helpless drug addict with a young daughter who desperately needed him to be a real dad. Motivated by growing concern over how his lifestyle was affecting his daughter and frustration with his inability to overcome drug use, Welch was searching for answers he couldn’t seem to find.

“I couldn’t stay sober. I didn’t know how,” he said.

Via e-mail, Welch shared some of the difficulties he was going through with a friend who happened to be a Christian. The friend sent Welch a Bible verse from the Gospel of Matthew, now tattooed on his neck, which says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” This began a conversation that eventually led Welch to ask God for help.

Hear the rest of the story at Christ Community Church Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 9 and 10. Admission is free and open to the public. Christ Community is located at the northwest corner of Randall Road and Bolcum Road in St. Charles.

The Saturday, Oct. 9, service begins at 5 p.m., and Sunday services are at 9 and 11 a.m. Services will be videocast to the church’s DeKalb and Blackberry Creek campuses Saturday, Oct. 16, and Sunday, Oct. 17.
