James C. ‘Pat’ Braffet

James C.”Pat” Braffet, 83, of DeKalb, Ill., passed away, Nov. 9, 2010, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Ill.

He was born Dec. 19, 1926, in DeKalb, the son of Clifford and Alice T. (Magnuson) Braffet. He married Alberta M. Griswold on July 30, 1947, in Sandwich, Ill.

Pat was formerly employed by Del Monte in DeKalb and then by Caterpillar, where he retired after 33 years, as well as farming his family farm. He was a square-dance caller for 30 years and also taught square dancing. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in DeKalb. Pat was a Boy Scout leader for Troop No. 19, was the supervisor of Pierce Township, and enjoyed taking trips on his motorcycle.

He is survived by his wife, Alberta; his four sons, Gary (Vicky) Braffet of DeKalb, Craig (Patti) Braffet of Hinckley, Jim (Sue) Braffet of Sandwich, Curtis (Peggy) Braffet of Carlock; 10 grandchildren, Steffanie, Terry, Chris, Gerry, Kelli, Amy, Julie, Meghan, Kristen and Kayla; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 12, at Anderson Funeral Home, 2011 S. 4th St., DeKalb. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation will take place at Anderson Funeral Home Crematory.
