WCC offers new science scholarship

SUGAR GROVE—Thanks to a grant from the National Science Foundation, Waubonsee Community College is offering a new Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) scholarship program for the 2011-12 academic year.

The scholarships, which will cover students’ tuition, fees, books and living expenses for up to two years, are available to both new and returning Waubonsee students. The awards will be given to students who demonstrate academic talent, financial need and an interest in earning an Associate in Science degree in specific STEM disciplines, with the intent to transfer on to a four-year school.

Eligible disciplines include biological sciences (except medicine and clinical fields), information systems, computer sciences, computer technologies, mathematics, materials science, engineering, physics, chemistry and earth sciences (geology, oceanography, astronomy or meteorology).
