Chorus holiday concert

AURORA—The Fox Valley Festival Chorus is brewing up a special holiday tea party experience for its annual holiday concert, “Angels, Saints, and Santa Claus,” to be held on Saturday, Dec. 11, at 3 p.m. in the sanctuary of Wesley United Methodist Church, 14 N. May (corner of Galena and May) in Aurora.
In addition to a concert filled with holiday favorites—both classical and contemporary, the afternoon will include a brief sing-along. Following the concert, all are invited to a tea party reception featuring treats and special holiday beverages.
During the tea party, a drawing will be held for the Secret Santa raffle. A variety of seasonal treats and surprises have been donated by chorus members and sponsors, but because all prizes are gift-wrapped, winners will not know what they have won until they open their prize packages.
The Fox Valley Chorus, under the direction of Mary Beth McCarthy, is currently in its sixth decade of performing in the Fox Valley area. Members of the chorus come from all areas of Kane, Kendall and DuPage counties. Bonnie Werthmann is the accompanist.
Tickets for the concert are $12 for adults, $10 for senior citizens, $8 for students grades 8 and under, and $25 for a family of five. Raffle tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5. Tickets for both are available from chorus members and at the door.
The Fox Valley Festival Chorus is always looking for new members. The next season starts on Monday, Feb. 7, 2011. Rehearsals are held Monday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, on the corner of Edgelawn and Galena in Aurora. Although the chorus rehearses at a church, it has no religious affiliation.
