Field trips require approval

With the budget in a precarious position, every penny counts. That’s why Kaneland school officials revised the field trip policy to require approval for long or overnight trips.

While day trips need only administration approval trips longer than 200 miles or overnight will now require the approval of the School Board.

The policy requires that all requests for field trips be brought to the principal three weeks before the trip. If the trip requires an overnight stay, six weeks’ notice is needed, except for state athletic contests.
The policy continues to ensure that every effort will be made to make sure that all approved trips are available to all students regardless of their economic circumstances.

On Monday, the board approved the varsity baseball team’s trip to Missouri and a student tour to Spain and France, both over spring break.
