Henry “Bud” Sigman

Henry H. “Bud” Sigman, 84 of Sycamore, Ill., died Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Jan. 19, 1926, in Otisco, Ind., the son of Clyde and Estella (Newby) Sigman. He married Flora Wycoff on Aug. 4, 1946, in Indiana. Bud was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Marines.

Bud was an auto mechanic for Taylor Motor’s in Sycamore in 1946. He then owned the Phillips 66 gas station on Main Street in the 1950s. He worked for Stahl construction, was an operating engineer for the Illinois Tollway Department and was a mechanic at the DeKalb County Highway Department. He also worked for Duplex Products and C and F Forge in Batavia. He was the owner and operator of Sigman Landscaping from 1961 until 2010.

Bud is survived by four children, Carl “Ed” (Mary) Sigman of DeKalb, Mary “Kathy” (Michael) Chapman of St. Charles, Sindy (Ron) Edwards and Julie (Steve) Edwards, all of Maple Park; 10 grandchildren, Teresa (Mohammad) Ba of Tennessee, Carla (Rodney) McMaster of DeKalb, Jessica (Aaron) Cox of St. Charles, Melissa (Guy) Laurenzano of Bloomingdale, Justin (Jeni) Chapman of St. Charles, Ron (Rebecca) Edwards, Jr. of Sycamore, David (Mary) Edwards of Rochelle, Chris Edwards of DeKalb, Crystal Edwards of DeKalb and Starr Sigman of Texas; 13 great-grandchildren; and one brother, James Sigman of Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Flora; one son, Greg Sigman; and one brother, Paul Sigman.

His funeral service was held on Tuesday, Dec. 14, at 1 p.m. at the Butala Funeral Home and Crematory in Sycamore, with Rev. Dr. Janet Hunt, Pastor of Salem Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial followed at the Elmwood Cemetery.

Visitation was held Monday, Dec. 13, at the Butala Funeral Home and Crematory in Sycamore.
