ELBURN—The Elburn Village Board approved a resolution to apply for a grant that would build an excess flow facility for Elburn’s Public Works. The board also voted to commit local money in support of the grant. Both these votes will allow Public Works to apply for $750,000 in grant money from the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) with the IKE-Public Infrastructure Program.

“The grant will fit very nicely into our waste water treatment expansion plans,” Public Works Superintendent John Nevenhoven said. “The grant addresses the flooding of 2008. We had excess water that came into our system and had a hard time treating it. This (proposed) facility would hold the water until it can be treated.”
