Marvin Ackerman, 78, of Melboune, Fla., passed away Nov. 21, 2010, at the William Child’s Hospice House in Palm Bay, Fla.

He was surrounded by his wife, son and many family members. He was born in Curtis, Wis., on June 14, 1932.

He was one of 13 siblings. He retired from the Elburn and Countryside Fire Protection District where he served as Fire Chief for 22 years.

He was a Korean War veteran. Some of his many passions were his family, the Fire Department, friends, sports and fishing.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Joyce (nee Stover); son, Ron (Debbie); and his grandchildren, Amy and Matt; seven siblings; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the Community Congregational Church in Elburn on Saturday, March 19, with the visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
