Phillip James Perlinski, 62, of Elburn, passed away Monday May 30, 2011, at Delnor Hospital in Geneva.

He was born May 27, 1949, the son of Thaddeus and Virginia Perlinski in Chicago.

Phillip grew up in Grays Lake, Ill., and attended local schools.

After graduating high school, Phillip attended Upper Iowa College, where he studied journalism. Following his graduation from college, he worked as a sports writer for a time in the Pennsylvania area. Later, he worked for over 20 years for AT&T.

Phillip found the love of his life in 1998. Karen Styer stole his heart but gave him hers in return. After they were united in marriage, Phillip and Karen made their home in Elburn.

Phillip was a big man with an even bigger heart. He was always willing to lend a hand to help others. He was an avid sports fan from birth. Although he was a fan of many sports teams, he lived and died with his beloved Chicago Cubs. He enjoyed gardening at his home, bringing a bit of Mother Nature’s beauty indoors. Phillip enjoyed collecting stamps, watching horse racing and was an “information junkie,” perusing the Internet for the latest stories. He also loved his two cocker spaniels, Autumn and Dooley.

Phillip had a generous heart and was always willing to lend a hand to help others. Phillip leaves his unique mark on the hearts of all he knew and will be missed by all.

He is survived by his loving wife, Karen of Elburn; one sister, Maribeth Skradski of Rock Island, Ill.; and a family of friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Virginia and Thaddeus Perlinski.

Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., with a memorial service to follow at 2:30 p.m., on Thursday, June 2, at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, IL 60119. Private family burial will occur at a later date.

In lieu flowers, a memorial has been established in his name to benefit his favorite charities. Checks may be made to the “Phillip Perlilnski Memorial” and mailed in care of P.O. Box 66, Elburn, 60119. Tributes may also be forwarded to the same address or on the web at
