This year’s carnival, presented by Wilson’s Family Amusements from Pekin, Ill., will have some spectacular major rides that are sure to please the teenagers, village trustee and Corn Boil volunteer Kevin Geary said.

Last year’s Corn Boil carnival had some older equipment, and didn’t have the death-defying, challenging rides that the teen crowd enjoys, he said.

These will include most of the following—the Sky Jump, Zipper, Wipe-Out, Wave Swinger, Fizzler and Pharaoh’s Fury, as well as one of the biggest ferris wheels, Geary said.

There will also be plenty of rides to satisfy the little ones, such as the Bounce, Dragon Wagon, a merry-go-round, slide, and the Wave-Runner.

This is the ninth year that the Sugar Grove Corn Boil has included a carnival, an extra that has turned the excitement up a notch on the weekend festival, Geary said. Pre-sales began July 1, and tickets will be on sale at all the banks located in Sugar Grove for $15 for any one of the three days. The tickets can be exchanged for wrist bands at the Corn Boil. Wrist bands can also be purchased on any day of the event for $20.

As a thank-you to all of the Corn Boil volunteers, the individuals who have volunteered to do something in preparation for the Corn Boil or during the event itself, will have a chance to preview the rides from 4 to 7 p.m. on the Thursday prior to the festival. If that entices more people to sign up to volunteer, so much the better, Geary said.
