Some sang songs acapella while others lip-synced. There was a contestant that rode a specialized skateboard and another that juggled miniature beanbags with his feet. What they all had in common was that these talents were performed in order to win the title of Mr. Kaneland High School, an event that for the last three years has raised funds for the Delnor Center for Breast Health.

Each year, the Mr. Kaneland event recruits boys to participate in this mock beauty pageant. They are judged in formal and evening wear categories, an interview question portion of the event, and for how much money they have raised on their own for the Delnor Center for Breast Health.

Junior Logan Markuson, who walked away with this year’s Mr. Kaneland title, said that being actively involved helps everyone understand the real importance behind this fun event.

“My grandma had breast cancer a few years ago and was able to beat it,” he says. “For me, it is great to be able to support other women like her.”

The Delnor Center for Breast Health is located at 351 Delnor Drive, Suite 201, on the hospital campus. To schedule a mammogram, call (630) 762-6400. For more information on the Delnor Center for Breast Health, visit us online at delnor.com.
