KANELAND—Close counts in tennis.

While the Lady Knights barely edged their opponents, every point mattered and the Kaneland crew now rides a six-match win streak.

The 11-2 Lady Knights look back on wins over host Yorkville, 3-2 on Tuesday, 4-3 over visiting Oswego on Monday and 3-2 over the invading Ottawa Pirates on Thursday.

Against the Lady Foxes, the Lady Knights saw Jelly Emmanouil take a 6-0, 6-0 sweep in the No. 2 singles matchup. The Amelia Napiorkowski/Madi Jurcenko No. 1 doubles team won 6-2, 6-0, while Madi Limbrick and Steph Rosenwinkel won their No. 3 match 6-2, 6-0.

Emmanouil also won her tussle against Oswego in a 6-3, 6-0 match. Napiorkowski and Jurcenko, plus Jenna Bicos and Jess Woodward came away with wins in No. 1/No. 3 doubles.

Against Ottawa, Emmanouil, Napiorkowski/Jurcenko, and Limbrick/Rosenwinkel took it to last year’s conference champs.

Limbrick/Rosenwinkel needed a 9-7 tiebreaker in a 6-4, 0-6, 7-6 win.

The Lady Knights take on the field at the Rochelle Invite on Saturday, Sept. 24.
