Patricia E. Bilodeau
Patricia E. Bilodeau, 85, of Batavia, passed away at Delnor-Community Hospital in Geneva in the early morning hours of Jan. 17, 2009. Though her spirit was strong, it was Pat’s heart that eventually gave out, but not before leaving a lifetime of memories for generations to share.
Pat was born Sept. 24, 1923, the daughter of Francis and Mertle O’Shea in Victoria Harbor, Ontario, Canada.
She grew up in Victoria Harbor and attended local schools, graduating with the class of 1941.
She was united in marriage to Alfred Bilodeau on Aug. 18, 1954, in Noranda, Quebec. They began their life together in Noranda, where they began to raise a family.
Their family was to know loss in the beginning months of 1965, when Alfred passed away. Shortly after, the family migrated to the United States and settled at Mooseheart in Batavia, where Pat worked as a seamstress.
Pat was a proud member of the Women of the Moose.
Pat had an unmistakable spirit that she loved to share with others. Although she guarded her privacy, her arms were always open to friends and family whenever they needed her. A huge White Sox fan, Pat reveled in finally seeing them win a World Series in 2005.
Pat had many passions and talents that she shared with her children and grandchildren, including sewing, cooking, singing songs in French and her Irish heritage. She also loved to spend time in her garden, and when the seasons changed, Pat could be found spending more time indoors crocheting and knitting. Pat had a love for animals, especially her cat Dusty. She will be dearly missed by her children, family and all who had the honor of knowing and loving her.
She is survived by her three children, Frank (Sheila) Bilodeau of Aurora, Kathy (Ron) Worden of Maple Park and Rick (Robbie) Bilodeau of North Aurora; four grandchildren, Melissa Worden, Jeff Bilodeau, Ricky and Jessie Bilodeau; three great-grandchildren, Kayla, Katie and Gianna; two sisters, Frances McKay of Sarnia, Canada and Muriel Pinkos of Ontario, Canada; many more family, friends, and last but not least, her loving cat, Dusty.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred; one brother, John J. O’Shea; and her sister Jean Plaszynski.
A mass to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, Jan. 30, 2009, at 6 p.m. in the evening at Mooseheart in Batavia. Family and friends are welcome.
