ELBURN—The Elburn Village Board on Monday passed a resolution to hire administrative consultant Doug Elder to fill in while Village Administrator Erin Wilrett is on maternity leave.

Elder will work 20 hours a week as an independent contractor. He will not take over Wilrett’s duties, but will help out with putting together the village’s comprehensive plan and budget, as well as picking up Wilrett’s emails and phone calls. Elder, who has more than 20 years of local government experience, will be paid at a rate of $49 per hour.

Village President Dave Anderson will pick up some of Wilrett’s responsibilities while she is away.
