Zachary M. Bingham
Zachary M. Bingham, 18, of Maple Park, died tragically in the early morning hours of Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012.
He was born Jan. 11, 1994, in Hinsdale, Ill., the son of Michael D. and Donna J. Bingham.
Zach grew up in Maple Park and attended Kaneland Elementary School. He participated in many different sports, including football and baseball. Zach enjoyed welding in high school and looked forward to attending Elgin Community College, where he hoped to turn his passion into a career. He graduated from Kaneland High School last summer with the class of 2012.
Zach was an emerging “jack of all trades,” having worked anywhere he could to make a dollar or two, from working at Bob-Jo Speedway to delivering pizza. He was also a laborer and one-time telemarketer, as well.
Zach was one of those all around “great guys.” He could cheer you up if you were feeling blue, and then keep you laughing with a joke or two. He loved so many kinds of music—not only was he unable to pick his favorite band, he couldn’t even pick a genre.
When he was younger, Zach enjoyed the outdoors, going fishing with his dad and grandpa, collecting turkey feathers, building deer stands and learning from his father how to track them. He could stand for hours by the field just waiting for the chance to ask the local farmer if he could help bale hay, and no winter was complete without crazy trips on a sled down the hills at Johnson’s Mound.
In later years, Zach loved to go tubing with friends on the Rock River, visit water parks and stalk friends in the woods while playing paintball. And if it had wheels or skiis, from dirt bikes to quads to snowmobiles, Zach loved to drive it.
Above all, Zach was the pride and joy of his parents and grandparents, and made them all proud. Though he was taken too soon, the impact he made on the lives of family and friends alike will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his parents, Mike and Dee Dee Bingham; paternal grandfather, Roland (Delores Lewan) Bingham; paternal grandmother, Esther (Sam) Bova; maternal grandmother, Marilynn Meyer; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, William Meyer; maternal grandmother, Marion Meyer; and his best four-legged friend, Lucy.
Visitation will take place from 3 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 10, at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn. Visitation will continue Tuesday, Dec. 11, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. before proceeding to S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Virgil for a Mass at 10 a.m. to celebrate his faith. Fr. Perfecto Vasquez, pastor of the church, will officiate. Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, Ill.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Zach’s name to benefit his favorite charities. Checks may be made to the “Zachary Bingham Memorial” and mailed in care of P.O. Box 66, Elburn, 60119. Tributes may also be forwarded to the same address or on the web at www.conleycare.com.
