Danny ‘Dan’ R. Christensen

Danny “Dan” R. Christensen, 73, of Sugar Grove, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2013, at his home. He was born May 23, 1939, in Lee, Ill., the son of the late Carl and Gladys (Andersen) Christensen.

Dan served his country with the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1961. Dan was a salesman for many years at Napa Auto in Aurora. He was a longtime and active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. He also was very active in the bluegrass community. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1271, and also past secretary of the Elburn Seniors.

Dan is survived by his wife, Phyllis G. Christensen of Sugar Grove; his two daughters, Cathy Abraham of McHenry, Ill., and Heather Christensen of Ft. Lee, N.J.; his two grandsons, Kyle Abraham of Sugar Grove, and D.J. Landau of Ft. Lee; his great-granddaughter, Aliesha Korda of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; his brother, Curt (Irena) Christensen of Shabbona, Ill.; his two sisters, Carol (Dave) Bend of Shabbona, and Karen Vass of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Eleanor DeBolt.

Visitation was held Monday at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Aurora. A service was held following visitation. Interment took place at Oak Mound Cemetery. Arrangements by The Healy Chapel, 370 Division Dr. Sugar Grove.
