Boys track take 2nd in Ottawa

OTTAWA—It was easy as ABC for Kaneland boys track on Saturday during the Ottawa ABC Invite.

Hosted by conference outlet Ottawa, the Knights tackled the challenge of the meet staggered by flights and came away with second place.

The Knights’ 182 point total was second to Metamora’s 182 and ahead of Bolingbrook’s 127 in the 15-team gathering.

The field events had a sizable KHS presence, with Alex Snyder taking second in the “C” shot put at 42-05. The “C” pole vault was captured by Kory Harner, who’s effort of 12-06 was good for first, while teammate JR Vest took the “B” group at 12-06, as well. Dylan Kuipers completed the Knight sweep of the vault with a 13 foot win.

The high jump showcased KHS talent, with Tanner Andrews earning a 5-10 in high jump “B,” good for second place. Long jump action saw Kaneland’s Dalvell Triplett jump an 18-2.5 in the “C” long jump.

On the track side, Knight Brock Robertson’s 43.30 time was good for first in the 300m hurdles “B” event.

Kaneland’s Kyle Carter made his distance work pay off with a first place in the “B” 1600m run (4:38.24).

In the 4x400m relay event, the KHS foursome of Brandon Bishop, Nathaniel Kucera, Carter and Dylan Nauert took first with an effort of 3:30.12, beating Oswego East by 3.48 seconds.

Ahead for the Knights is the usual late-April staple Peterson Prep housed in Maple Park on Saturday, April 20.
