Village establishes backup SSA for The Landings
The Village Board on Jan. 6 approved a measure to establish a back-up special service area (SSA) for The Landings commercial development on Route 47.

The establishment of the back-up SSA, a common practice in Sugar Grove, is in case the property owners association of a residential or commercial development fails to maintain the various public and common areas improvement items.

The ordinance allows the village to levy an annual tax at up to $1.50 per $100 of the equalized assessed valuation to use for the necessary maintenance.

Board approves easements to connect water main to new school
The Village Board on Jan. 6 authorized the execution of several easements necessary to install a water main along the Municipal Drive extension out to the Harter Road Kaneland middle school. The Kaneland School District is responsible for obtaining the easements, necessary to extend the water main.
