‘Mel ‘n Ball’
MAPLE PARK—The Maple Park Lions Club will present its inaugural “Mel’n ball” watermelon decorating contest. This event will take place on Friday, Aug. 30, on the lawn in front of the Maple Park Community Center, 302 Willow St. There will be two categories: children and business.
What’s the decorating theme? That’s up to your imagination. Decorate any kind of melon however you like and bring it to the community center between 5 and 7 p.m. on Aug. 30. Judging will take place that evening. First, second and third prizes will be awarded for each category.
Melons will be on display Friday night and all day Saturday, Aug. 31. Melons must be picked up by Sunday, Sept. 1, at 3 p.m.
