Services at
Temple B’nai Israel

AURORA—Temple B’nai Israel, an independent congregation serving Jewish families of the Fox Valley area, recently announced the schedule for its 2013 High Holiday services.
Kol Nidre services will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13, with Yom Kippur morning services continuing at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14. The High Holidays of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur bookend the 10 Days of Awe—a period of prayer, self-examination, fasting and repentance.
Admission to High Holiday services is free to current members, IMSA students, all area college students, and first-time prospective members. All others may purchase tickets. To arrange for tickets, call the temple office at (630) 892-2450.
The Temple’s religious school, meeting on Wednesdays and Sundays, is directed by Kitty Hall, and provides a strong foundation of Jewish knowledge for children pre-school through high school. Traditional services are held every Shabbat and holiday. A lay-led Reform service ‘Shabbat Chaverim’ is held monthly, often including instrumental music.
Rabbi Shmuel Mann is the full-time spiritual leader of the congregation. For more information about Temple B’nai Israel and its upcoming service and events, call the office or visit www.temple-bnai-israel.org.

St. Gall announces Rite of Catholic Initiation classes
ELBURN—St. Gall Church in Elburn will hold Rite of Catholic Initiation (RICA/RCIC) classes beginning in September. Adults interested in becoming catholic, children over the age of 7 who have not been baptized—and anyone baptized Catholic as a child but has not celebrated the Sacraments of Eucharist or Confirmation—are eligible to attend the classes.
St. Gall Parish offers an opportunity to come together in a small group to learn more about our faith. Sessions focus on the teachings and experiences of Church and prepare individuals to celebrate the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist during the Easter season. There are separate sessions for children or youth. The public is welcome to participate in the process with their questions, insights and faith story in a warm, accepting setting.
Inquiry classes are scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 19, at 7 p.m. in the Parish Hall. No registration is required.
St. Gall is located at 120 W. Shannon St, in downtown Elburn. For more information, contact the Parish Office at (630) 365-6030.
