Kaneland volleyball solves Hubs, falls short to Foxes, Vikings
KANELAND—At 9-10 (3-2 Northern Illinois Big XII), the new-look and still jelling Kaneland Lady Knights volleyball club will take the big and integral conference victories when it can.
On Thursday, Kaneland solved the visiting Rochelle Hubs in just two games. On Tuesday in Kendall County, the Lady Knights and Lady Foxes battled, with Kaneland falling short in three games, 25-23, 17-25, 15-25. Wednesday saw KHS fall to the visiting Geneva Vikings.
In the 25-20, 25-18 matchup with the purple-clad Rochelle, lone senior Jenny Lubic stabilized the attack with 22 assists to her name. Important cog Ellie Dunn also produced 12 kills, four service points and five digs. Sophomore teammate Vanessa Gould maintained the Kaneland strength with six kills, three service points, four digs and two blocks. Lady Knight Riley Hannula added five kills, three blocks and two service points.
In the Tuesday loss to the Lady Foxes, Dunn provided 10 kills, five digs and an ace, Lubic had nine assists, one ace, Hannula had six kills and Kathy Nguyen 12 digs.
Against Geneva Wednesday, the Lady Knights dropped a close match to Geneva 25-18, 22-25, 23-25. Lubic had 19 assists, five kills and five service points. Dunn provided 19 kills, 12 digs and seven blocks.
Volleyball doesn’t compete until traveling to Morris on Thursday, Oct. 10.
