KHS girls cross country wins Pretzel Invite
FREEPORT, Ill.—The Kaneland girls cross country team is getting healthy at the right time.
After their early schedule saw ups and downs with injuries, the group put together a solid effort at Freeport High School’s Pretzel Invitational on Saturday, winning the 11-team meet with 50 points, six ahead of runner-up Boylan’s 56.
Head coach Doug Ecker was pleased with his team after their performance. It was the third year in a row the Lady Knights have been victorious at the land of the Pretzel.
“The girls continue to show improvement both individually and as a team as the season progresses,” he said.

Brianna Bower was next for the Lady Knights, posting a fifth-place finish in a time of 18:08.
“Bower continued her string of top 10 finishes,” Ecker said. “(It was) a 30-second improvement over last year.”

Erika Carlson continued to improve as well, besting her 2012 time by 60 seconds, placing 14th in 19:41 this year. Sydney Strang cracked the top five once again, by placing 16th with a time of 19:54.
