Leonard Dave Jump

Leonard Dave Jump, 67 of Bellevue, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, under the care of Hospice of Dubuque.

Leonard is survived by his wife of 45 years, Susan (Nowak) Jump; children, Victoria Pertiet of Batavia, Deborah Jump of Sandwich, Ill., and Cynthia Jump of Tinley Park Ill.; his brothers, William Jump (Peggy) of Aurora and Lee Jump of North Aurora; and his sister, Katherine Heiman (Ronald) of North Aurora.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Margaret (Smith) Jump; his brother, Nicholas Jump (Orva); and sister, Frances Mills (Harold).

Leonard was born in Aurora and grew up in Kaneville. He graduated Kaneland High School in 1964 and began his career at Faskure/Aurora Metals/Borden Chemical. He started out working on the shop floor, and over the course of his 36-year career, worked his way up to Plant Superintendent, responsible for two factories.

He married in 1968 and lived in Elburn prior to settling in Yorkville, where he remained until his retirement in 2000, when he and his wife moved to Bellevue, Iowa, to be close to the Mississippi River. He spent his retirement fishing the river he loved and spending time with friends and family.

His proudest accomplishment was raising three wonderful daughters.

Family and friends are invited to join in a day of remembrance to be held from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, at the Horizon Hall, 970 N. Riverview Drive, Bellevue, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to The American Diabetes Association or The Wounded Warrior Project.
