ROCKTON, ILL.—A fifth-place finish is quite respectable, especially when it’s out of 34 teams.

The Lady Knights travelled north to Hononegah High School’s domed fieldhouse and came home with a lot of hardware.

In the team standings, Kaneland only trailed West Aurora (87), St. Charles East (76), Lakes (64.5) and Cary-Grove (52). Kaneland’s 50 points put them five ahead of Downers Grove South.

The KHS quartet of Nicole Sreenan, Lauren Zick, Becca Richtman and Allie Heinzer earned first place in the 4x400m relay, crusing to a 4 minutes, 14.94 time. That’s the fifth-fastest time in Class 2A so far this season in that event.

The 4x200m relay of Olivia Galor, Zick, Carly Elliott and Sreenan was edged at the line, placing second with a 1:52.22. Zick also placed second in the 200m dash with a 26.87.

In the 55m dash, it was Zick again, this time placing third with a 7.51, while Sreenan was sixth in 7.67.

Christina Delach was fourth in the pole vault with a leap of 9’ 6”.

Brianna Bower earned a fifth place in the 3200m with an 11:46.58 eight-lap tour of the track.

Allie Heinzer was sixth in the 400m dash (1:04.11) and the 4x800m relay of Sydney Strang, Richtman, Jessica Kucera and Aislinn Lodwig was also sixth with a 10:35.35.

The Lady Knights head to the Plainfield South Invitational Friday night at 5 p.m.
