KANELAND—New Kaneland High School athletic director Peter Goff was introduced at the Kaneland School Board meeting on Monday.

“We’re pleased to formally introduce Pete,” said Kaneland Superintendent Dr. Jeff Schuler. “Welcome.”

Board members then approved Goff’s employment with the Kaneland School District, with an annual salary of $85,000.

Former athletic director Leigh Jaffke resigned from the position in fall 2013. Rudy Keller and Ralph Drendel have since served as Kaneland interim athletic directors.

Goff has worked in the Sycamore, Bloomington and Sterling school districts, and has experience in teaching, coaching boys basketball and serving as a dean of students. He will officially start his new position on July 1.

He has other ideas about when work will start.

“Well, I’ll start before my contract starts, just because I’m so excited and looking forward to getting in there and just working with the administrative teams that they have their at Kaneland—Principal (Jill) Maras and everybody else along with that,” Goff said. “It’s just, I’m excited to work with such a great group of people.”

According to a news release, Goff had been chosen out of a pool of 103 applicants.

“It was clear that he has the right combination of both skills and attributes that I think just made him a good fit for the district right now,” Schuler said this week.
