Outdoor opener nets 13 event wins for girls track and field
KANELAND—With favorable conditions compared to the majority of the spring thus far, the Lady Knights track and field team took advantage and coasted to an easy triangular win over visiting Oregon and Burlington Central.
KHS totaled 111 points, easily eclipsing BC’s 45 and Oregon’s 30.
Thirteen event wins highlighted the afternoon.
In the field events, Lauren Zick won the long jump with a 17 foot, 4 inch leap and Christina Delach put up a 10’ 3” Pole Vault to claim first.
On the track, Kyla Goodine won the 100m Hurdles in 17.93 seconds, while Nicole Sreenan won the 100m Dash in 12.97. Jessica Kucera won the 800m Run in 2:35.43, while Sydney Strang took the top spot in the 400m Dash with a 1:05.42. Taylor Eaves won the 300m Low Hurdles in 52.68. Brianna Bower won the 1600m Run in 5:30.64, and it was Zick again, this time winning the 200m Dash in 25.94.
In relay action, the Knights reigned supreme, sweeping all four events. The 4×800 led off the relay winning streak with a 10:39.03, while the 4×100 followed with a blistering 50.2, winning by almost 8 seconds. The 4x200m won with a 1:55.02, while the 4×400 notched a 4:11.9.
Saturday is a big day for the Lady Knights, as they host the Jill Holmes Invite at the Kaneland track starting at 10 a.m.
