William K. Marlatt

William K. Marlatt, 88, of Sugar Grove, passed away on Monday, April 7, at Asbury Gardens in North Aurora. He was born Sept. 27, 1925, in Steger, Ill., the son of the late Chalmer and Mable (Unger) Marlatt.

He served in the Navy as a pilot after graduating from Thornton High School in 1942. He married Ruth Cashion in 1946. Bill graduated from the University of Illinois in 1951 with a degree in civil engineering, and was employed by Stephens-Adamson in Aurora for over 30 years, retiring in 1987.

Bill is survived by his son, Rob (Jeanette) Marlatt of Sugar Grove; his daughter, Shawn (Fredrick) Harms of Sugar Grove; his five grandchildren, Danielle Harms, Karyn Harms Williams (Ian), Kyle Harms, Stephanie Marlatt and Bethany Marlatt; and his many other family and friends.

In addition to his parents and brother, Robert, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth C. Marlatt, in 2006.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 11, at The Healy Chapel, 370 Division Drive, Sugar Grove. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place at Sugar Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project.
