Agreement for Mallard Point plan approved

SUGAR GROVE—The Village Board on Tuesday approved an engineering agreement with Trotter and Associates, Inc. to provide a drain tile concept plan for the Mallard Point Subdivision to address recurring groundwater issues and flooding in the community’s wetland area.

The Rob Roy Drainage District, which covers all of the affected areas, will take the lead on the project. Trotter and Associates, Inc. will work with Huddleston McBride Drainage Company to prepare the plan and cost estimate for the installation of a bypass drainage line extending from the southern limits of Mallard Point to the Jericho Road ditch.

The village asked the Rob Roy Drainage District to share in the cost for the plan, $10,500 plus the cost for professional and outside services, as well as expenses.

The village scheduled a meeting for Wednesday night with the Kane County Department of Water Resources, Trotter and Associates, the Rob Roy Drainage District, Mallard Point residents and members of the Village Board to discuss the project and related issues. The outcome of the meeting was not known at press time.
