SUGAR GROVE—Neil and Stanley roads will be repaired this year with 2009 Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) Program dollars, based on the Sugar Grove Public Works Department’s evaluation of all village streets.

The repairs, which will include asphalt overlays and the installation of curbs and gutters to improve drainage, will take place on Neil Road from Stanley Road to East End and on Stanley Road from Neil Road to Monna Street.

According to Public Works Director Tony Speciale, the estimated costs are $133,250 for construction and $15,657 for engineering, for a total cost of $148,907.

The homes and yards in the area surrounding these streets have experienced significant recent flooding. Speciale said he hopes the repairs will redirect the ground water to where it should naturally flow, out into the farm fields.

The village plans to put the project out to bid and begin work when a company is selected to perform the work. Speciale said the hope is to have the project completed this year.
