Local residents earn scholarships

The Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley recently awarded 13 scholarships to southwestern Kane County residents for the 2009-10 academic year. The potential value of these scholarships over the next four years is $31,000.

The purpose of the Community Foundation Scholarship Program is to provide financial assistance to students who are academically qualified to pursue an advanced education in their chosen field of study. Scholarships are established within the Community Foundation by individuals, businesses, nonprofit organizations, civic clubs and through bequests.

Earning the Alexander Family Scholarship was Samantha Eichelberger of Elburn and Erin Hellwig of Big Rock.

Receiving the Howard E. Charles, Jr. Scholarship were Sarah Korth, Tricia Oakes, Madeline Shurtleff and Robyn Wright, all of Elburn.

Earning the Community Foundation Scholarship was Zachary Babbe of Sugar Grove.

Receiving the Arthur and Daphne Heinz Memorial Scholarship was Anthony Gaudio of Sugar Grove.

Earning the Mr. & Mrs. William P. Hilgen Scholarship was Elizabeth Runge of Big Rock.

Receiving the David B. Perry Scholarship were Kathryn Bergman and Christopher Ott, both of Sugar Grove.

Earning the Robert G. Schweitzer Scholarship was Matthew Kramer of Sugar Grove.

Recieving the Louis Vago Scholarship was Catherine Pauls of Sugar Grove.
