Based on the first attempts of the year marked 2009, Kaneland bowling is already looking better, thanks to their first win.

The bowlers took to the lanes on Monday in Huntley to face off against the first-year Raiders program.

“They’re young and have a good attitude, and we’re glad we can bowl against them,” KHS coach Jim McKnight said.

Kaneland nabbed its first head-to-head meet of 2009 with a 2,601-1-2,420 win.

“It’s a pretty heavy schedule now until the end of the season, so we’ll see how it goes,” McKnight said.

The Lady Knights followed that up on Tuesday with a home loss to non-conference rival Lisle in a 2,831-2,508 match.

Kaneland is now 1-7 (0-4 WSC).

Jessica Stebbins led the way with a capable series of 466.

Stebbins wants to see improvement which started at Huntley.

“I want to get either get a 550 series or 250 game,” Stebbins said.

Holly Thomas had the team-high series vs. Lisle with a 454.
