Daniel L. Kellen

            Daniel L. Kellen, 71, of Aurora, passed away after a long battle against cancer Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, at his home. He was born Nov. 14, 1937, in Amboy, Ill., the son of Lester J. Kellen and the late Agnes (Ross) Kellen.

            Mr. Kellen served his country from 1955 to 1957 with the United States Marines Corp. He was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps League of Aurora. He retired from the CTA Aug. 1, 2004, before falling ill. For 36 years, he and his family were members at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Chicago.

            He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Kinniry) Kellen of Aurora; three children, Louis (Shari) Kellen of Lindenhurst, Ill., Maureen Cervantes of Fort Worth, Texas, and Patrick (Jennifer) Kellen of St. Charles; grandchildren, Sarah, Thomas, Maggie, Drew, Leo and Lexi; father, Lester J. Kellen; three sisters, Joan Kellen of Los Angeles, Calif., Colleen (Joe) Primock of Denver, Colo., and Mary Ann (Rich) Mikos of Tinley Park, Ill.; brother, Anthony (Phyllis Sweeny) Kellen of Denver; and many other family and friends.

            He was preceded in death by his mother, Agnes (Ross) Kellen.

            Funeral Mass was held Monday, Dec. 1, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 329 Pine St., DeKalb. Visitation was held Sunday, Nov. 30, from 1 to 5 p.m. at The Healy Chapel, 370 Division Dr. Sugar Grove. Interment took place at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
