Baseball sees WSC woes
While the Knights still have its collective head over .500, they’d rather not go under at this important juncture of the season.
Kaneland dropped a 4-3 result in Maple Park on Wednesday, April 30 and got torched 11-3 in Yorkville on Thursday, to complete the three-game set.
On Tuesday, Kaneland dropped a 13-5 matchup to visiting Sycamore, 13-5.
Kaneland sits at 12-8 with a 9-7 record in Western Sun Conference play.
Eight days ago, Cody Crook suffered his first loss of the season. Mike Pritchard did go 3-for-3 with a home run and Brian Claesson went 2-for-4 with a double.
On Thursday, Yorkville scored three runs in the second, one in the third, six in the fourth and one in the sixth. Kaneland managed just three in the fifth inning.
Joe Gura suffered the loss on the mound. Alex Norman went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
Kaneland went out to a 3-1 lead after one inning versus the Spartans, but Sycamore scored one in the second and four in the third to go up 6-3, before the Knights got two runs in the bottom half to close within 6-5.
However, the Spartans scored one in the fourth, and five in the sixth to pull away.
Norman fell to 4-2 with the loss.
Kaneland was set to face Sycamore on Wednesday in Sycamore. The Knights were scheduled to face Sycamore at Elfstrom Stadium in Geneva on Thursday, and host Lemont on Saturday, May 10.
